Weekly Message Action Plan

Our key verse for this week is:

Mark 6: 7-13 7  He called the twelve apostles, sent them out two by two, and gave them authority over evil spirits. 8  He instructed them to take nothing along on the trip except a walking stick. They were not to take any food, a traveling bag, or money in their pockets. 9  They could wear sandals but could not take along a change of clothes. 10  He told them, “Whenever you go into a home, stay there until you’re ready to leave that place. 11  Wherever people don’t welcome you or listen to you, leave and shake the dust from your feet as a warning to them.” 12  So the apostles went and told people that they should turn to God and change the way they think and act. 13  They also forced many demons out of people and poured oil on many who were sick to cure them.  (GW)

We learned that living by faith starts with a calling from God.  God calls you to take a specific step of faith.

Second, God sends you out with a partner.

Third, God gives you authority in a specific area/situation.

We also learned that God starts us out with small steps of faith that lead to larger leaps of faith.

So what action can you take this week based on the sermon?

1) Reflect back on your life of faith.  When has God called you to take specific steps of faith?  How did that work out?  If you did not answer God’s call to step out in faith, why not?  What happened? What step(s) of faith is God calling you to take now?  What is holding you back?  What can be done to help you take those steps of faith?

2)  When Joshua was told to lead the Children of Israel into the Promised Land, it was quite a leap of faith.  But God gave him encouraging words.  These words are still encouraging for you today.  Joshua 1:9  9  “I have commanded you, ‘Be strong and courageous! Don’t tremble or be terrified, because the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.’” (GW)  Memorize Joshua 1:9.  The next time God calls you to make a step of faith, recite these words of encouragement.

3) Download this week’s Five Minute Ministry here and commit to reading the Bible every day this week.  Spend daily time in God’s word and in prayer!

Let me know how I can be praying for you and what you are learning about your life as God’s child this week!

Weekly Message Action Plan

Our key verse for this week is: Mark 5:35-36  35 While Jesus was still speaking, some men came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue ruler. “Your daughter is dead,” they said. “Why bother the teacher anymore?” 36 Ignoring what they said, Jesus told the synagogue ruler, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”  (GW)

It seemed as if Jesus was not that concerned with Jairus’ problem.  He took the time to stop and heal a woman who had been sick for 12 years.  During that time, Jairus received the news that his daughter had died.  Yet Jesus encouraged Jairus to stand strong even when his world was falling down.  Jesus still encourages you and me especially in times of trouble to stand strong, “don’t be afraid; just believe.”

So what action can you take this week based on the sermon?

1) Memorize Psalm 23:4  4 Even though I walk through the dark valley of death, because you are with me, I fear no harm. Your rod and your staff give me courage. (GW)  Psalm 23 is a beloved Psalm of King David.  Verse 4 is a word of encouragement for you as you go through life’s struggles.  Jesus, the Good Shepherd will never leave you. The next time you are going through a great time of sorrow, struggle, or trouble, recite Psalm 23:4.  Remind yourself that you are not alone.  Jesus is with you, you do not need to be afraid!

2)  Have you gone through a time of sorrow, struggle or trouble?  Ask God to show you how He helped you through that time.  Write it down, share your story with someone else who is struggling right now.

Weekly Message Action Plan: Our sermon text for this week is:

1 Peter 3:7 7Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.

Peter lists three marks of a godly man:

First, a godly man is to be considerate of his wife as he lives with her.  A godly man considers his wife’s feelings before he acts.  He makes time with her a priority.

Second, a godly man treats his wife with respect.  He does not try to force, intimidate or use his strength against his wife.

Third, a godly man prays.  He knows he cannot do this on his own.  He knows he needs help.  He turns to Jesus for help and forgiveness.

So what action can you take this week based on the sermon?

1) Memorize 1 Corinthians 13:11 11 When I was a child, I spoke like a child, thought like child, and reasoned like a child. When I became an adult, I no longer used childish ways. Ask God to show what childish ways are holding you back from being the man God wants you to be.  Ask God to help you grow up and be His man!

2) If you are married read the article “Becoming the Man of Her Dreams” on the Family Life web page found here: Becoming the Man of Her Dreams :Your wife needs you to pursue a relationship with her—not just when you want sex, but as a way of life.
